The United State Department of Energy (DOE) issued a climate science report on July 29, 2025. On Sept. 02, 2025, a group of some 85 other climate scientists issued a rebuttal report. Media stories about the scientists who wrote the US DOE report label the authors as "contrarians." Most of the authors of the US DOE report are not household names, and since they hold dissenting views on various aspects of the climate change narrative, they are rarely quoted in the press. Over the years, Friends of Science Society has had the pleasure of hosting three of the five authors of the report at our Annual Climate Science events, so we put together "Who's Who..." to give the general public some insights about the scientific qualifications of the US DOE authors, and references to some of their works. In our opinion, all of the authors are extremely well-qualified and their approach to scientific and economic questions is one of openness and inquiry - not a demand to comply with a mythical 'consensus' view. The biographical materials are drawn from the US DOE website. Likewise, as Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated,"•What I’ve found is that media coverage often distorts the science. Many people walk away with a view of climate change that is exaggerated or incomplete..." This video includes an example of how and why the media message gets so distorted. We hope you enjoy these insights. We have a an 88-page booklet "Energy & Climate at a Glance" available for purchase ($15 Cdn + shipping) info on our website: friendsofscience.org. We also have an upcoming event: "Food Prices, Farming and Net Zero Ideology" on Sept. 25, 2025, in Calgary (in-person) or via live stream.
