Wendy was born in Montreal, Canada and moved to Australia in 1983 where she was in strong demand as a session singer. Success as a recording artist in her own right came in the following decade with a #2 charting single, “The Day You Went Away” from the 1992 album, “Lily”, which went to #2 on the album chart.
Prior to “Lily”, Wendt released “Emigré” in 1991, produced by former Beach Boy, Ricky Fataar. The disc reached #11 on the Australian album chart and it won the Australasian Performing Right Association award for the best female artist the same year.
“Token Angels”, on which Tim Finn and Ricky Fataar” sang back-up vocals, won the 1991 APRA award for the best single by a Breakthrough Artist and reached #18 on the Australian singles’ chart.
