Hailing from Margherita di Savoia in southern Italy, Raff (Raffaele Riefoli) spent some time in the UK in the early 80s before launching his recording career with “Self Control” in 1984. The disc reached #2 in Germany. A cover version quickly followed by Laura Branigan on US Atlantic and her version went to #4 on the Hot-100, #5 in the UK, #1 in Germany and #3 in Australia.
“Change You Mind”, also from 1984 was another German hit for Raff but thereafter his hits were confined to his native Italy but thet were significant: with "Infinito" reaching #1 in 2001.
