Weezer are back with their new self-titled album, unofficially known as The Gold Album, but is it another hit or miss from one of alternative rock's most unpredictable bands?
In this review, I take a track-by-track look at Weezer's latest album, including “Say Yes,” “Shine Again,” “Don't Make It Weird,” “We Might as Well Be Strangers,” “C.E.O.,” “Hoops,” “Nowhere,” “The Show Must Go On,” “Up in the Clouds,” and “The LA Sound.”
I've always been a casual Weezer fan, and my opinion of the band has definitely been mixed. I wasn't a fan of Van Weezer, but I really enjoyed OK Human. So where does the new Gold Album fit?
For me, this is a return to the sound that made Weezer so great in the first place. With distorted guitars, grungy 1990s alternative rock influences, catchy choruses, and a tight 10-track running time, this feels like the perfect album to put on repeat.
