Muse return with their tenth studio album, The Wow Signal, and it may be their most ambitious release in years. Blending massive cinematic rock, electronic textures, heavy riffs, and a deeply personal story of heartbreak wrapped inside a science-fiction concept, this is an album that surprised me from start to finish.
In this review, I break down every track on the album, discuss Matt Bellamy's emotional songwriting, the inspiration behind the real-life 1977 Wow! Signal, and explain why I think this is a significant improvement over Will of the People. While a few slower songs didn't completely connect with me, the heavier moments rank among the strongest Muse have released in years.
