S.O.D. was never supposed to make a second album. After the crossover thrash classic Speak English or Die, the band went their separate ways, focusing on Anthrax, Nuclear Assault, Brutal Truth, and M.O.D. But after a series of explosive reunion shows in the late 1990s, fan demand proved that Stormtroopers of Death still had a loyal following.
In this video, we explore the story behind Bigger Than the Devil, how Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Dan Lilker, and Billy Milano reunited after 14 years, the writing and recording process, the hilarious parody of Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast album cover, why Iron Maiden embraced the joke, and the standout tracks that made this long-awaited comeback one of the most entertaining crossover thrash albums of the late '90s.
Was Bigger Than the Devil a worthy follow-up to Speak English or Die? Watch the video and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
