Evanescence returns with Sanctuary, their first album of all-new material since 2021's The Bitter Truth. As someone who came up on classic rock and metal and always kept Evanescence at arm's length, I went in with low expectations and came out genuinely impressed. In this review I cover the album's background and production, how it compares to the band's past work, what it gets wrong, and a full track-by-track breakdown.
