UNRESTRAINED
Original music and lyrics by Glen Clark
My vision for this song was simply to describe a head on car crash in slow motion but somewhere along the line it turned into a metaphor about love.
Lyrically this song is quite different from my usual music as it doesn’t really tell a story. Hopefully though this frees the listener to fill in the gaps and to interpret the song in their own way.
Fully recorded, mixed and mastered in GB on MacOS.
Production-wise I think this is probably the happiest I've ever been with one of my songs (and if your own inner critic is anything like mine, that's saying something Lol).
Only 28 Tracks in this one and unusually for me just three vocal tracks (1 lead vocal and 2 backing vocal tracks).
I used 11 synth tracks though. 5 stock GB synths and 6 cello tracks from the excellent Spitfire Labs instrument packs which are free to download.
2 drum tracks, 2 rhythm acoustic tracks, 4 lead guitars (quadruple tracked) and a bass guitar track and some miscellaneous ear candy tracks round out the rest.
I also added a reverse reverb cymbal track which added some interesting 'blip' noises throughout.
The song is in Em. 6/8 time at 66 bpm.
Verse: Em, G, Cmaj7, Em
Chorus: D, C, D, C
The video for the song was recorded in just two takes using the Video Star App on my iPad Pro. I then compiled them in iMovie and overplayed them with about 50% opacity.
As usual, thanks for listening and for all your support. Hopefully you find this interesting and enjoyable.
Cheers, G.
