This was my finale as a participant in the fifth Toasty Tour MGTT Tournament! This is a Netplay tournament taking place from 8/25-9/3/23 with 24 players from across the MGTT and MSSB communities. Anyone who has followed high-level Toadstool Tour over the years MUST be familar with Spyfox26. No introduction is needed. Probably the second best there's ever been. And I ain't number one.
I had been fortunate enough to have gone undefeated in the tournament up to this point. Thus, having to lose - twice - to the loser's bracket winner really stings. I led off with a powerful pick that I knew could win holes 1 and 3 while still being manageable for the rest of the course. Unfortunately, despite a good first hole, I tilted on hole 3 and never recovered. Not that any shots were bad (maybe except for hole 6. That was stupid of me), but one you're down to Spyfox, it's super hard to recover. That's why I felt justified going with power initially. I had one loss as buffer to just get out of my system.
The second match was still very gruesome but more consistent. I played hard. I did what I could but it didn't match up. Spyfox is so, so good. Making it to 18 was a blessing.
