Wait - this isn't Lakitu Cup!
I am subjecting Congo Canopy to the highest abuse with a playground exhibition with none other than Donkey Kong himself! Swinging from trees to trees is where he ought to excel, after all! Feel free to ask any questions, and I'll post them below!
FAQs:
Q1) What's is this?
A1) This is a playthrough of the entire map of Congo Canopy within a four-minute/twelve-stroke period. Essentially, through recent breakthroughs, we swapped disc directory files in such a way that the game thinks we are playing Lakitu Cup, but Congo Canopy gets loaded instead of Lakitu Valley 1. This enables me to play through the entire map without being restricted by hole-by-hole boundaries.
Q2) How did you change the music?
A2) I was shown Amuse - a sequencer on GitHub that is specifically designed to extract music data from N64 and GCN games. This converts a MIDI file into a different file that the game sequences using its audio sample library (i.e. its soundfont). The OST is "Treetop Rock Returns" from Donkey Kong Country Returns - but in the MGTT soundfont with some tweaks. In order to make the music loop, I used Anvil Studio to insert MIDI Events that the in-game sequencer (MusyX I think?) compiles to make the music track loop.
Q3) What's the goal?
A3) I have been in charge of routing different combinations of teeboxes and greens to create remixed holes within the Congo Canopy map. I also used my Guitar Pro background to dabble into custom music. I do not have composition/transcription talents - I'm only at the "rearrangement" level. We would like to remix Congo Canopy into a more exotic course that allows for a multitude of tactics to navigate. We have changed the Wood of the trees to be in-bounds - should you be able to stick onto it, though the treehouse and bridge are still OB if your ball stops there since they are separate entities. We will also change the non-active Greens into additional Fairways that can be used to pivot around the layout. The Tee Boxes are also playable as additional pivots for weaker characters and confident players looking to take shortcuts.
