Throttle hold function is to set the throttle output to a fixed value. When the throttle hold is turned on, the throttle output will jump to the locked position regardless of the current throttle position.
This function is often used in two scenarios:
To work as cruse control, which is often used for cars and boats.
To work as throttle cut, which can provide users a easy way to stop the engine, and avoid accidentally operating the throttle joystick.
For T8S and T8FB, we need Parameter Adjustment APP to set the parameters. You can download the Parameter Adjustment APP from RadioLink official website.
T8S BT Parameter Adjustment APP download link: https://www.radiolink.com.cn/t8s_apps
T8FB BT Parameter Adjustment APP download link: https://www.radiolink.com.cn/t8fb_bt_app
We can use iPhone, Android phone and computer to set the parameters. I use iPhone in this tutorial.
(The version of iOS APP in this tutorial is V11.2.0. You can download or update the iOS APP in Apple App store)
And since the functions of the Parameter Adjustment APP for T8S and T8FB are the same, I take T8S as an example.
I have downloaded Parameter Adjustment APP on this iPhone. Here it is.
Open it. Click Connect.
(Make sure the bluetooth of the phone is turned on.)
A list of devices will pop out. Select RadioLink. T8S will beep. We need to press any one of the trim buttons of T8S. Then the beeping stops and they are connected.
We can see the servo value on the APP. Move the joystick, the servo value changes, which means the connection is successful.
Then we can set the parameters of T8S on the APP.
Click ADVANCED menu--THROTTLE SET. Here is throttle hold function.
Set the MIX from INH to OFF.
Mode. There are two modes for throttle hold function. One is to RATE. The other one is Throttle.
Let’s check the first mode. RATE. The rate can be set from 0 to 100%, which means the whole throttle travel from -100 to +100. That is to say, 50% means the throttle is at 0 point. 25% means the throttle is at -50. and 75% means the throttle is at 75.
I set it to 25% to show it.
SW means switch. We need to set a switch to control throttle hold. SWA, SWB and SWC can be selected. This is SWA. This is SWB and this is SWC.
I select SWA.
The position can be set to UP, CENTRAL or DOWN. I select UP, which means when SWA is pushed up, the throttle hold function is activated. When SWA is pushed down or in the central position, the throttle hold function is turned off.
And click WRITE to save the modifications. The beeping sounds means the settings are saved. Push SWA Up, the throttle hold function is turned on. Here is ON. Push SWA Down, the throttle hold function is turned on. Here is OFF.
Go to servo display. SWA is pushed down, we can see the throttle works well, and there is no throttle hold function.
Push SWA UP, the throttle jumps to -50 directly, no matter what position the throttle stick is in.
Push SWA down, the throttle hold function is turned off. The throttle stick works normally.
If I want to the throttle to be +50, instead of -50, I can set the RATE to 75%, which is in the opposite direction to 25%
I set the RATE to 75%
And click WRITE to save the modifications.
Go to servo display.
The throttle works well now. Push SWA up, the throttle jumps to 50 directly, which means the throttle hold function takes effect.
If you want to use the throttle hold function as the throttle cut, you can set the RATE to 50%
Then let’s check the second mode, THROTTLE mode.
In throttle mode, when throttle hold function is turned on, the throttle will be fixed at its current position.
The RATE here is to show the current position of the throttle joystick. No need to set it.
Go to servo display. SWA is pushed down, the throttle works well. The current throttle is at ~~~. If I want to keep the throttle at this point, I just need to push SWA up to turn on the throttle hold function. The throttle will be fixed at ~~~, no matter how I move the joystick.
Push SWA down, the throttle hold function is turned off. The throttle stick works normally.
