The Bible never presents the pulpit as a fundraising platform. Preaching is supposed to exalt Christ, explain Scripture, call sinners to repentance, build up the church, and point people to the truth of God’s Word. But when sermon after sermon becomes centered around money, increase, wealth, elevation, favor, seeds, harvests, and financial breakthroughs, something is seriously wrong.
Too many people in church today have been trained to believe that giving money is the key to unlocking God’s blessing. They are told to sow into a word, sow into an atmosphere, sow into a prophet, sow for a breakthrough, or sow because “this is their moment.” But the gospel is not for sale. God’s blessing cannot be purchased. And no preacher has the authority to manipulate people into giving by attaching promises to a cash offering.
