Once again, Bishop Marvin Winans is calling on members of his church to give a $1,000 offering—and this time, he’s also encouraging them to reach out to their neighbors, friends, and others to ask them to give the same amount.

In this video, we take a closer look at the fundraising appeal, the pressure surrounding high-dollar offerings, and the growing concern over churches repeatedly placing major financial expectations on their members.
At what point does giving stop being voluntary generosity and start becoming unnecessary pressure? Should church members be encouraged to solicit $1,000 donations from people outside of the congregation? And how should Christians evaluate these kinds of appeals biblically?
