What does “Neuromuscular Adaptation” actually mean?

🏋🏽‍♂️ Well, one example of a neuromuscular adaptation is Rate Coding.

Since we can’t send bigger or smaller action potentials, the way the nervous system adapts to higher force demands is by sending more impulses per second.

📈 Rate coding can improve over time as the body produces more neurotransmitters (Ex: Acetylcholine) when trained properly.

Other neuromuscular adaptations include motor unit recruitment, motor unit synchronization, and decreased antagonist co activation.
