Is Training for "Power" a waste of time?

🏋🏽‍♂️ Power training is a general neuromuscular stimulus that sits between max strength and speed training.

Max Strength improves your ceiling for force potential.

📈 Max Speed improves..... speed.

But in season athletes often can't handle the stress of too much additional intensive strength and speed work.

🔑 That's where power can be useful.

In Season or as a part of a typical training week, "Power training" can support your higher specificity strength or speed training.

⛹🏼‍♂️ Just avoid the trap of "Training like an Athlete" and only training "power" at the expense of for example max strength work that you need to find time for throughout the year for long term progress.

Otherwise you'll have really high readiness but and essentially get really good at quickly expressing not enough force.
