Blaze Entertainment, the company behind the incredible Evercade EXP and the Evercade VS home console, has just announced a brand new handheld system. Get ready for the Evercade Nexus.
For those of us who are dedicated to collecting physical media and prefer slotting in a real game cartridge instead of relying on digital downloads, the Evercade ecosystem has been an absolute breath of fresh air. Now, Blaze is taking things to the next level. We are looking at the Castlemania Games website right now. It currently shows as "sold out," but that’s only because the official pre-orders open tomorrow, April 1st, 2026.

🕹️ THE HARDWARE: A Massive 64-Bit Upgrade!
Let’s take a closer look at the system itself because there are a lot of fantastic new features baked into this hardware that push it beyond the 8-bit and 16-bit eras.
Dual Analog Sticks: Finally! We have a D-pad and an analog stick on the left side, plus your standard ABXY face buttons and a second analog stick on the right. Taking a look at the shoulder buttons on the back, you have L1, L2, R1, and R2.
The Display: The Nexus boasts a massive 5.89-inch IPS high-resolution screen. If you thought the EXP screen looked good, this larger real estate is going to be absolutely incredible for 32-bit and 64-bit retro titles.
TATE Mode Support: Yes, it will still support TATE mode (or "Taté" mode, depending on how you pronounce it!). If you love vertical arcade shoot-'em-ups, you are completely covered here.
Backwards Compatibility: Looking at the cartridge slot, it uses the exact same size cartridge as the original consoles. Blaze has confirmed complete Evercade cartridge library compatibility—that means over 80 physical cartridges and more than 700 games are supported right out of the box on day one.
This is the new premium retro gaming console designed specifically for the Evercade ecosystem, pushing the boundaries with support for both 32-bit and 64-bit games. It features a larger handheld footprint with comfortable, textured grips for those long gaming sessions.
📶 CONNECTIVITY: Wireless Audio & EverSync
The Evercade Nexus is packed with modern tech to enhance the retro experience:
Wi-Fi 6: It supports both 2.4 and 5 GHz wireless connectivity for lightning-fast system updates and menu browsing.
Wireless Headphone Support: A highly requested feature is finally here, allowing you to ditch the tangled cables and use your favorite Bluetooth earbuds.
EverSync Wireless Multiplayer: This is arguably the coolest new feature. EverSync allows multiple Nexus handhelds to directly connect and play supported multiplayer games together locally, with no Wi-Fi network required. Just link up and play wherever you are!
The One Catch: There is one thing the older Evercade EXP has that the Nexus does not: an HDMI output. You cannot connect the Nexus directly to your TV. For big-screen gaming, you will still want to use the Evercade VS.
🐻 BANJO-KAZOOIE: The Rare Partnership
The fact that we are getting a Banjo-Kazooie Double Pack to launch alongside a console with dual analog sticks is absolutely mind-blowing. Seeing Rare's legendary bear and bird on a brand new physical Evercade cartridge makes their previous teaser for the Hyper Mega Tech Super Pocket make so much more sense now.
