Equality as the new morality was the victory of the North in the Civil War. At Gettysburg America was dedicated on the altar of freedom to the proposition that all men are created equal. Lincoln placed that understanding right at the center of the master/slave relationship. The scriptures that had to be twisted and destroyed to do so were I Timothy 6: 1-10. Instead of submitting to God’s command for Christians to give all honor to even unsaved slave masters the north blindly followed the spirit of John Brown and the Republican Party. They promoted the idea of arming blacks so they could obtain their freedom even by murdering their masters if need be. But the Republican Party was always the party that aimed at acquiring wealth as the best means of obtaining happiness. They were initially followers of Charles Fourier, like one of their founders, Horace Greeley. They were first cousins to the followers of Karl Marx. The result is America is very scared they are on the verge of a communist takeover. But when you destroy the family by socially and legally destroying the inalienable birthright of the firstborn son I guess communism becomes the only possible path people see ahead.
