Iron Fist Garp. Monkey D. Garp, also known as "Garp the Fist", is an extremely famous and powerful Marine Vice Admiral. He is the father of Monkey D. Dragon, the paternal grandfather of Monkey D. Luffy, and the adoptive grandfather of Portgas D. Ace. He was responsible for overseeing Ace's birth and raising a young Luffy, before entrusting them both to the Dadan Family. A contemporary of Gol D. Roger in his prime, Garp came to be known as the only Marine that could seriously challenge the Pirate King, with feats to match; his participation in the God Valley Incident, that led to the defeat and disbanding of the infamous Rocks Pirates, won him the title "Hero of the Marines". His prestigious career has not only afforded him multiple promotion offers to Admiral, but the freedom to refuse (due to his deep hatred and contempt for World Nobles) without consequence. At the same time, he has mentored many younger Marines into prominence, including once-Admiral Kuzan and SWORD members Koby and Helmeppo. After the events of God Valley and The French Anti Garp Hate has finally perished; today I will be defending my goat and explaining to you why whether it’s in his prime or even in his current old unc era, this man Garp has ALWAYS remained as one of the strongest physical power houses somehow someway. How does he do it? How did this man become the Iron Fist… no not that one… and how did THIS MAN BECOME HIM? Well like all goated legends, it all begins with… the beginning, I know yall are loving my Oda level literature right now. Before we talk about Garps strength, we need to talk about his beliefs, as in One Piece this does surprisingly determine one’s strength. I’ve gone over the justice and ideologies of every admiral, and while every admiral believes in something different, I believe Garp to be a general mix of the 3 original admirals and their beliefs. Akainu represents Absolute Justice, Aokiji represents lazy justice, while Kizaru has conflicted justice. Garp has shown the qualities and characteristics of all 3. He’s tried pushing his sense of justice onto Ace and Luffy but to a much lesser extent than Akainu because. While each Admiral represents something different or are an extension of a justice we’re familiar with, like with Green Bull and Fuji, Garp is a mix of all of them. Now Garp throughout God Valley was putting up arguably the best numbers in that arc aside from Rocks And Imu. This dude off the top was clashing with Rodger, showed no fear in fighting 3 future yonko, and went on to fight Rocks with Roger by his side. I don't think the big mom kaido and whitebeard thing is all that impressive given no one is in their prime yet. However, what does need to be noted is Garps performance against Rocks and him showing off techniques we haven't even seen Garp utilize in the current era. This will be very important later on, but obviously even after this interaction Roger and Garp would constantly be trying to kill each other, implying their relative. We also even see a suppressed harp and sengoku take on one of Rogers rivals and ex member of Rocks’ Crew, Shikki. This would at the very least show Garp can fight on the same level to that of the Pirate King, the same guy who clashed with Whitebeard in his prime. And Whitebeard, despite getting weaker, was still the strongest pirate roaming the seas, with him only ever seeing Roger as his equal. And as I established already Garp has his own sense of justice that we get to see sprinkled throughout Pre Timeskip. He pretty much let the Strawhats get away, he sold the fight against Luffy in Marineford. Lets not sit here and say bro is Gear 2 Tier, when we just saw him blitzing and overpowering the same guy who just saved Luffy a second ago. Mind you this is the same marco capable of reacting to Kizaru and Akainu, and intercepting Aokiji. It makes much more sense when we consider Old Garp can put his hands on Kuzan, who fought Akainu for 10 days when they are healthy. Even in this current era Garp at his peak condition wouldve had a pretty good fight with even some of the current yonko like Blackbeard or even Shanks. However, I just simply think those 2 have better cases for being much stronger than at least old Garp. I’d confidently place Garp easily in that High Admiral Level. And we’ve seen from an admiral that is weaker than Kuzan and also had a mental nerf.. Go on to fight a yonko who just got done beating up another yonko. I don't think he’s dead, but if he goes out saving the one person he hasn't failed yet, and goes out showing Kuzan that he was wrong, this would be a satisfying end for The Iron Fist. However, there's also just as much of a chance for him to not be done just yet, and hit Blackbeard with the Monkey D family Hakimeha or something. But this is where the Strongest Marines story ends.
