Another day another one piece matchup to make the people enraged. Today we will be covering the infamous, Katakuri vs King. The two respective right hands of the two allied yonkos in Wano, and since they both hold such a high reputation, I decided to breakdown as to why this is the biggest mismatch ever and you guys need to stop setting my goat up for failure. Anywho, let’s discuss both characters power and abilities to determine the superior commander. Firstly, we got Katakuri who I’ll be going over first since he has basically 1 fight to really go off of. In his battle with Luffy we see him no selling hits from Gear 4, which was the same form Luffy used to put down awakened Doffy. This same Luffy would go on to grow more powerful, and do better in his base than in gear 4, and despite this he still ended up using snake man to barely beat Katakuri, this would mean Katakuri from the start of the fight was multiple times more powerful than Luffy, and likely would’ve gotten stronger by the end. So although he lost, he’s still someone who’s a threat to Snakeman Luffy and pretty much up until he goes to train in Udon. As far as his abilities, Katakuri is known for having some of the best observation haki in the series as he can see into the future. Although it’s just for a few seconds, this allows Katakuri to completely dodge and evade anything coming his way, as he’s seeing the move before you even make it. Only problem with this is that Katakuri needs to be calm, meaning if the enemy frustrates Katakuri, then he won’t be able to dodge to his fullest. His devil fruit is the mochi mochi fruit, Which allows Katakuri to overwhelm the opponent with versatile moves like donuts rings, giant punches, mochi traps, and etc. Not only could he see King's moves, but with his devil fruit, he might be able to overwhelm the Lunarian with speed and versatility. But let’s now go over King now that Katakuri is out the way, the Lunarian in contrast to Katakuri is more so notorious for his durability rather than his speed. Due to his DNA, this allows him to suffer virtually no damage from even most high tiers. Even after taking multiple hits from Marco Sanji and even Zoro, he still managed to suffer no real damage until Zoro started using Emma. Granted when Zoro uses all of enmas power King kinda gets folded, but we have to remember that King is still the strongest all star, meaning he’s fsr above the other Tobi roppos who could also force a stronger Luffy to go gear 4. And he himself anyway could tag and damage Marco, who could react to Kaido, so to say King is relative with these characters is pretty fair. And when in doubt, the King could utilize his best move, which is the fire dragon emperor. A powerful sword strike where King not only emits his sword with flames, but proceeds to spawn a couple of magma dragon heads that you now have to get past, in order to then clash and proceed to overpower King. With the simulation out the way, let’s address the obvious elephant in the room. And that’s the difference between Luffy in whole cake and Wano. You see, after getting one shot by Kaido, he ends up going on a whole training arc to learn a new type of haki, in order to cause any type of damage to him. We then see base Luffy proceed to do better than his gear 4 self thanks to Ryo, he’d then use gear 4 on top of this, and yet Zoro was still superior to him during the first raid. This same Zoro goes on to tap into advanced conquerors and recovers from his injuries, and yet goes high diff with King in the end. Granted, the moment he used advanced conquerors he got folded like an omelet, but him even scaling to Zoro before this, would have to mean King is at the very least has stats that eclipse Katakuris pretty badly. Unironically King with his flames off would be faster than Katakuri using max concentration in order to avoid his attacks, and while King has some of the best durability in the verse, Katakuri has the exact opposite. After less than 20 hits Luffy somehow puts bro on the Matt while King is still someone that is used as an example for having invincible skin. This in my opinion has been one of one piece's greatest mismatches and I hope I put this debate to rest. One Piece has received praise for its storytelling, world-building, art, characterization, and humor. It has received many awards and is ranked by critics, reviewers, and readers as one of the best manga of all time. Several volumes of the manga have broken publishing records, including the highest initial print run of any book in Japan. In 2015 and 2022, One Piece set the Guinness World Record for "the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author".
