ERWIN LEHN
Erwin Lehn, a German musician and orchestrator, founded the Sudfunk Tanzorchester in 1951 for the Süddeutschen Rundfunk(SDR) in Stuttgart and he would be its director until 1991. His orchestra developed quickly into a modern Swing Big Band and together with the Band of Kurt Edelhagen ( Südwestfunk )the Suedfunk Dance Orchestraz became one of the most popular dance bands in Germany. Many solo performers, both German and international, played together with the Erwin Lehn Big Band as Lehn's skill and craftsmanship were acknowledged worldwide. Some of his band members created their own orchestra later on, eg Horst Jankowski, Ernst Mosch , Peter Herbolzheimer and Klaus Weiss .
Erwin Lehn worked together with some of the big names in the popular music branche : Josephine Baker, Bibi Johns, Greetje Kauffeld, Angelina Monti, Marika Rökk, Anneliese Rothenberger, Caterina Valente, Peter Alexander, Bully Buhlan, Udo Jürgens and Bill Ramsey are just some of the artists with whom he recorded and performed on stage.
Lehn also wrote the music for more than 50 movies and, together with Max Greger and Paul Kuhn he toured around Germany during many years.
Erwin Lehn received the German Jazz Trophy for his numerous contributions to that genre and was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz (Highest German award) for his lifetime achievement.

The song "Quando Quando" competed in the 1962 San Remo Music Festival and ended up 4th in the final result.
Composer Tony Renis himself performed the song at the festival.
The ultimate success for the song came, when Engelbert Humperdinck recorded his version in the late sixties.
