On August 15, 2023. Officers from the Whitefish Bay Police Department observed a gray Jeep with no license plates parked on the street. A male occupant (Shawn) was seen asleep in the driver seat. Officers placed stop sticks in front of the rear tires of the vehicle and proceeded to wake up Shawn by knocking on the window. He opened the driver’s door and stated that he was waiting for someone. Shawn was asked to shut the vehicle off but refused to. Shortly later, he put the vehicle in drive and began to flee. A few seconds later, he crashed into a tree and began to flee on foot. An officer caught up and was able to deploy a taser striking Shawn. He was detained and EMS arrived to provide medical attention. A search of the vehicle revealed two cough syrup bottles, a small purple/blue bag containing a green leafy substance, and a small plastic bag containing a tan colored powdery substance in the center console. Shawn was found guilty for 2nd-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, a class G Felony. He was ordered to serve 9 Months in the Community Reintegration Center, and pay $750 in fines.
