A patch on my modular synthesiser which explores some of the more advanced features of the swt16+ sequencer for drum sequencing. It is my submission to the Colin Benders Modular Mayhem Challenge - Groovy Edition.
This challenge has been super helpful as a way of exploring new ways of working with my limited setup and I have really enjoyed learning more of the features of the swt16+. Now to keep practicing and learning!!
Patch Notes:
Kick - drumBs module 1, triggered by Ch1 and Ch2 of the swt16+. Ch1 has a length of 4 beats and Ch2 has a length of 3 beats, both are a simple trigger on the 1. Ch2 is rerouted to Ch1 so when both are playing you get a 3-4 polyrhythm on the kick.
High Tom - drumBs module 2, triggered by Ch3 of the swt16+. Ch3 has a length of 7 beats, which adds an interesting rotation of the pattern when paired with the Kick
Clap and Hats - drumBs module 3, triggered by Ch6 of the swt16+. This is almost triggering every beat, but is then routed to the Percall and normalised across P3 and P4 for Clap and Hats.
P3 has a longer AD envelope and is used for the Clap. This is triggered from Ch4 of the swt16+ with length 16.
P4 has a short AD envelope and is used for the Hats. This is triggered from Ch5 of the swt16+ with length 16.
Bass - The Chord Organ is set to saw and is routed MTM Overdrive. This is then routed to the Percall and normalised across P1 and P2. P1 is triggered by Ch9 of the swt16. P2 is triggered by Ch10. Both Ch9 and Ch10 have a length of 16, but a clock division of 3 applied, so they are triggering in sync with the 3 beat part of the kick. The envelope of P1 is being used as the clock for the Baby 8, which is being used to change the chords on the Chord Organ.
