Subnautica 2 EA Patch 1.1 is here with the new Adaptive Measures update, and in this video I read through the official Subnautica 2 patch notes while giving side commentary on the biggest gameplay changes, quality-of-life improvements, performance fixes, Biomod updates, base building improvements, creature behavior changes, and Early Access changes worth paying attention to.

Patch Notes: unknownworlds.com/en/news/subnautica-2-adaptive-measures-update

This Subnautica 2 Early Access update adds smoother Biomod progression, two new Biolabs in Coral Gardens and Axum Ruins, more Biomod unlocks, additional passive Biomod slots through Bioscanner scans, better visibility for Biomod progression, Creative Mode Biomod unlocks, new Biolab unlock badges, and a lot of changes aimed at making the Biomod system easier to discover and use during the early game.

The Adaptive Measures patch also improves wreck exploration with more traversal puzzles, oxygen puzzles, better visual language on doors and buttons, adjusted rewards, and general cleanup across wreck interiors. If you have been exploring Subnautica 2 wrecks, hunting blueprints, scanning fragments, or trying to progress through the current Early Access content, these changes should make wrecks feel more readable and rewarding.

One of the biggest quality-of-life changes in Subnautica 2 Patch 1.1 is that players can now sprint when out of the water, either on the surface or inside a base. The update also adds default sprint mapping, reduces default walk speed to balance sprinting, and finally adds a FOV slider to the settings menu. For PC players especially, the FOV slider is a big deal.

This patch also makes major changes to fauna and creature behavior. Most creatures now properly flee after being attacked with the Survival Multitool, and many creatures get a brief dizzy state after being hit by the Sonic Resonator. The patch also improves particle fish grouping, Bloom Parasite behavior, Bloom encounters in Coral Gardens and Ruins, and creature naming and discovery systems.

There are also resource changes, including more Silver updates in Coral Gardens and new Silver hint dialogue. Base builders get several useful improvements too, including better Vehicle Dock and Fabricator placement, smaller Vehicle Dock platform and rails, clearer obstruction messages, better placement ghost visibility, Moonpool feedback messages, and a new storage base buildable that does not contribute to nearby crafting systems.

The patch also changes audio logs so they no longer auto-play, which should help reduce confusion in multiplayer. Instead, unlocked audiologs now appear in the PDA and can be replayed manually. There are also updates to dialogue priority, voice-over mismatches, Lifepod cutscene music, Xbox multiplayer notices, user reporting, and privacy policy notes related to the upcoming Proximity Chat feature planned for EA 1.2.

I read through the main Subnautica 2 Adaptive Measures patch notes and give commentary on the changes that actually matter most for players. At the end, I leave the full bug fix list for viewers to read on their own, because the bug fix section is absolutely massive and reading every single fix out loud would turn this into an hour-long ocean documentary. A very damp one.

If you want a breakdown of Subnautica 2 Patch 1.1, the Adaptive Measures update, Biomod progression changes, new Biolabs, FOV slider, sprinting, base building fixes, Tadpole bug fixes, performance improvements, multiplayer changes, Silver updates, creature behavior changes, Survival Multitool changes, Sonic Resonator changes, and Early Access patch notes, this video covers the biggest parts of the update.

Thanks for watching, and let me know what you think is the most important change in Subnautica 2 EA Patch 1.1.
