There is an entire hidden developer layer inside the Subnautica 2 Experimental Build, and in this video I'm taking a full tour through it to see the enormous amount of unreleased Scorpius Trenches content currently being built behind the scenes.
This developer layer is normally completely hidden from regular players.
Thanks to Reddit user u/Vast_Addition7794, who originally discovered and shared screenshots of this hidden content, I was able to get access to a personal Admin Console mod they created with a button that forces the developer layer to become visible.

And there is a LOT hiding in here.
The developer version of Scorpius contains unfinished Axum alien buildings, facilities, machinery, story locations, vehicle progression, environmental clues, and developer markers that reveal much more about how this area may eventually work.
We can see where the enormous Trident submarine appears to be buried beneath the sand and muck, waiting for its future place in progression.
We can also explore the crashed section of the CICADA colony ship that appears to have originally served as a cargo bay for SeaFrog chassis.
Broken SeaFrog fragments are located around this area, giving us a much better idea of where players may eventually unlock the SeaFrog and why its ability to move giant pieces of debris could be important.
There's also the future location of the Tadpole Depth Module MK2, which appears to be locked behind an Axum alien facility that players will eventually need to power and access.
But perhaps the strangest discoveries involve the enormous amount of tar flooding Scorpius Trenches.
The hidden developer layer appears to show that much of this tar was originally being contained behind an enormous dam.
Something happened.
The dam failed or was destroyed.
And now tar has poured through the surrounding landscape, flooding and destroying what appears to have been some kind of massive Axum farming or harvesting complex.
Exactly what they were farming is still unclear.
One possibility is that this facility was being used to raise and harvest Great Jaw Leviathans for valuable biological resources.
Another possibility is that the tiered pools were designed for growing some kind of alien plant or other biological material.
Either way, the entire area looks dramatically different once the hidden structures and developer objects are actually visible.
There are also clues indicating that the disaster may have involved sabotage.
Whether that sabotage happened long ago, potentially involving the missing colonist Nehema, or is connected to something much more recent is still unclear.
In this Subnautica 2 leaked content tour we'll explore:
â The hidden Experimental developer layer
â Developer-only objects regular players cannot normally see
â New Axum alien buildings and structures
â Future Scorpius Trenches progression
â Where the Trident submarine is buried
â The future SeaFrog chassis location
â The crashed CICADA cargo bay
â SeaFrog fragments around the wreck
â The Depth Module MK2 location
â Future Axum power puzzles
â The massive destroyed tar dam
â The flooded tiered pool system
â Possible Axum farming infrastructure
â Possible Great Jaw Leviathan harvesting
â Evidence that the disaster involved sabotage
â Theories involving Nehema
â What all of this could mean for the future story
â ïļ IMPORTANT
This is unfinished development content.
These locations, structures, mechanics, story elements, vehicle unlocks, developer notes, and progression systems can all be changed, redesigned, moved, or removed before reaching the normal public version of Subnautica 2.
Special Thanks / Credit
A huge thank you to Reddit user u/Vast_Addition7794.
They originally discovered and shared screenshots of the hidden developer layer and were kind enough to give me access to their personal Admin Console mod that allows this developer content to be made visible inside the Experimental Build.
Without their work, this tour would not have been possible.
