Subnautica 2 EA 1.1, officially called the Adaptive Measures update, comes out tomorrow, July 8, 2026, and in this video I’ll go over everything we currently know is changing before the full patch notes arrive.
Adaptive Measures is the first major Early Access quality-of-life update for Subnautica 2. This patch is focused on improving the current game rather than being the giant expansion update coming later. That means changes to the early-game Biomod system, Blight Encounters, wreck layouts, creature reactions, the Sonic Resonator, PDA navigation, base storage, voice line priority, and probably several other fixes and improvements we will not fully know about until the official patch notes are released.
One of the biggest changes is to the early-game Biomod system. The update is expected to make Biomods easier to use earlier in the game, with more Biolab access and changes that make the system feel less cramped. The roadmap also lists more passive Biomod slots, which should make experimenting with Biomods feel better instead of constantly forcing players to swap things around.
Wrecks are also getting updated. Right now, some wreck interiors can feel empty, repetitive, or not as interesting as they should be. Adaptive Measures should improve wreck layouts and make exploring them more fun, more detailed, and more rewarding.
Creature interaction is also changing. Fish and animals in Subnautica 2 will now react more clearly when you hit them with the survival multi-tool. Instead of just feeling like you are bonking a wet wall with opinions, creatures should flinch away more visibly. The Sonic Resonator is also getting updated so that some creatures can enter clear stun states when hit with the blast.
Blight Encounters are getting tuned as well. The goal seems to be making Blight creature behavior around Angel Combs easier to read, with smoother transitions from passive to aggressive behavior so attacks feel less random and players have a better chance to understand what is happening.
The PDA is getting layout and navigation improvements to make it faster to use. That should make it easier to search, sort, and find important information in the Databank instead of digging through menus like you are trying to file taxes underwater.
There is also a new Resource Cache for bases. This should let players store some items separately so they are excluded from base fabrication. That is useful if you want to keep certain materials saved for later instead of having the base auto-pull them into crafting recipes.
Voice line priority is another important quality-of-life change. This should help important story dialogue and voice logs play more cleanly instead of getting buried, interrupted, or stacked on top of other audio.
There will also likely be more changes than what we know right now. The official patch notes come out with the update, so expect extra bug fixes, balance changes, UI tweaks, creature adjustments, performance improvements, or other small changes that were not fully shown in the roadmap or update vlog.
