Since buying the Steadicam AERO 30 we’ve been flying the Canon Canon C100 and C300 but we wanted to test it out with the ARRI Alexa Mini. In this video we've got test footage of both the Canon C300 and the Alexa Mini on the Steadicam AERO 30.
Flying the ARRI Alexa Mini on the Steadicam AERO 30 felt great. The AERO 30 can handle up to 20lbs, and our fully built Alexa Mini weighed about 18lbs. The weight of the Alexa Mini felt well balanced and allowed us to get some cool smooth shots.
With the Canon C300 mounted, the lightweight camera didn't balance as easily. We added some extra weights to the top of the AERO with the C300 to get a better balance. The footage still looked great, but it didn’t feel as smooth and balanced as with the Alexa Mini.
