In our Adobe Camera RAW photo editing tutorial, we show you the benefits of RAW photos. When taking photos, you have the option to shoot in JPEG, RAW, or both. RAW vs JPEG? RAW photos are the bread and butter of great photography, and it’s a good practice to shoot in both formats if you don’t already. So, what is a RAW photo? RAW files contain unprocessed picture data from your camera’s sensor, meaning that these photos give you much more control when it comes to camera RAW editing.

To edit these photos, you need to use Adobe Camera RAW which will integrates with your photo editing software, such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, After Effects, or Lightroom. After editing with Adobe camera RAW, you can edit your photo as you normally would, but make sure you are done using all the tools available to you in Adobe Camera RAW before you start editing. Once you start editing in Adobe Camera RAW it opens up a lot of editing options to you. The program enables adjustments to white balance, levels, hue, saturation, and luminance - all non-destructively. Photoshop camera RAW uses all the extra data in your files to give you the freedom to create and edit your photos how you want. If you use Lightroom, you will most likely already be familiar with Camera RAW as it shares a similar interface.
