What's the best lens for Steadicam & gimbal? Today we're going to test out four different lenses to see which lens is best for Steadicam and gimbal use. We're going to be working with the Canon 16-35mm f4 lens, the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens, the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 lens, and the Sigma 14mm 1.8 lens. We've got some Canon C200 60 fps footage to test them out!

In our Canon VS Sigma VS Tokina lens test, we found that all of the lenses created great shots our Canon C200 and Steadicam AERO 30. The Canon C200 footage was shot in slow motion at 60p. But what really makes a difference is what type of shots you want to use them for. Do you want your footage a little wider? Or do you prefer to have a Full Frame lens?

The Canon 16-35mm and the Sigma 18-35mm have the advantage of being zoom lenses with a larger range of focal length than the other lenses. The Sigma 14mm and Tokina 11-16mm also have their own strengths. The Sigma 14mm can maintain a more shallow depth of field while keeping your frame pretty wide. The Tokina can get you the widest shot out of the bunch (on Super 35) for less than half the price of the other lenses. Overall the versatility of the Canon 16-35mm and Sigma 18-35mm make them our top picks as the best gimbal lens and best Steadicam lenses.
