If you're in the market for a monopod for photography and don't want to break the bank, we have a cheap alternative with our DIY monopod for photography. Prepare to learn the secret of the painter's pole!

This DIY painter's pole monopod has become a must have tool in our lighting kit. If you attach a 5/8 baby pin adapter to the end of the painter's pole you can attach lights to it like a c-stand. This is great for outdoor photography. Attaching a light to the painter's pole allows whoever's holding it to move around quickly for different angles.

We took our DIY monopod out to the beach for a photo shoot with the Canon EOS R. The sturdiness of the painter's pole made moving through the wind a breeze. The painter's pole is fairly lightweight on its own, and once you put a light on the painter's pole monopod, if it gets too heavy you can easily set it down in the sand and rest your arms.
