Aya and Hatate (FACEY!!!!) are the Spoiler Scene bosses and main protagonists of the game Double Spoiler, the 12.5th installment of the Touhou Project and sequel to Shoot the Bullet. The Touhou Project is a danmaku shooter series where opportunistic crows take advantages of people for their own amusements. ZUN, you sick bastard D=
Along with the Extra Scene, these make the last two videos of the Spoiler Playthrough. This time we are witnessing the competition between our not so dashing heroine, Aya, and her newfound eternal rival, Hatate a.k.a. what's-her-face a.k.a. facey. There's not much I can say here. Compared to the Extra Scene, this is a walk in the park and one of the easiest scenes in the game. However, it does have some concrete story to it (which I posted on the video for your pleasure).
In my opinion, Hatate looks like a brat. She also kind of acts like one, although she does have a point on calling out Aya as a mediocre excuse for a fraud. Her special ability is basically using Google Images, although in a more magic sense. Not only can she search for images that already exist. Apparently she can also take the images on people's mind and even the thoughts and turn them into reality... or a picture at least. And then turn those pictures into danmaku, which to be honest is the only useful art of combat in Gensokyo. I wish for an official game where there's more than danmaku =/
Overall, Hatate is very similar to Aya. Also, there isn't that many fanwork of her to paint her differently. Unless ZUN do like Aya and place her in everything just for the heck of it, Hatate is doomed to be a One Scene Wonder in a spinoff game, like Tenshi and Nagae. Hell, she doesn't even have a theme song. I had to use Aya's two themes for this video. There really isn't much to talk about Hatate. Not much has been creating about her, her fighting prowess seems to be vastly inferior to Aya's and there's simply no material to work with. Well, other than being Google's spokesperson. Also, I can already see that in fanon Hatate will secretly hold a great admiration for Aya and her work, bordering or going past lewd in some doujins, desperately trying to make Aya value both her as a tengu and her work as a journalist. Sure, why not? We already have a doujin of Aya playing that same card on Reimu and that is even less feasible. But seriously, they will end up being friendly rivals, both in canon and fanon.
I hope you like the transitions in this video. Aya's and Hatate's camera lenses were made by me in Photoshop (the same goes for the Hakurei Orb that appeared the Extra Scene video). I'm pretty please with how this video turned, with the shooting effect used for the transition and the Illusionary Dominance-esque appearance of the scene title for Aya's scene. Too bad the songs were to short to cover the entire length of Aya and Hatate's conversation. I tried to make them start at key points, the first song starting as Hatate's appear and the other one as Aya's says her last words before Hatate's "Believe it" moment.
As for the song, what is best for one of the final videos than two songs that belong to the best vocal circles out there? The first song features Unlucky Morpheus's yuki and Fuki while the second Liz Triangle's kaztora and lily-an. And of course azuki, who made the lyrics for 神風. Not much to say other than "Listen". Hmmm, I just noticed this is merely the second video with Unlucky Morpheus talent. Guess I didn't used them as much as I was expecting.
