These aren't my favourite Salmon Run weapons. Glooga Dualies are poor at inking turf, the Flingza Roller isn't as heavy as the Dynamo Roller, but slower than your basic Splat variety, and I just don't get along with brushes. Still, there are salmonids to steal eggs from for a bear, so here I am. I start with the Flingza Roller which, despite its name, doesn't fling that much ink, not at walls. My joke Splat Bomb gets bounced by a trumpeting Smallfry, and only really distracts me from the Flyfish behind. I take my time and splat it anyway, then bring down a Lid to stroll under it, only for another Flyfish to appear and throw missiles my way. I've moved on, and splat a Steelhead instead, before splatting a Flipper back at the basket. I rue the Flingza Roller not being heavy enough to squish a Scrapper, so leave it to others, and just focus on eggs, until multiple Flippers flop in sequentially. That puts us comfortably over quota, so I just relax for the final few seconds, trying to splat a Flyfish, who wants revenge.
On to the second wave, and I get the only decent weapon in the set, the Wellstring V. I have no say in splatting a Drizzler, which is fine, and a Flipper flies in, which the Wellstring is well-suited for. I move across to splat a Flyfish, leaving eggs behind because I don't want to be chomped by a Steel Eel. They follow me around a bit, which is fine, as I busy myself splatting other bosses, drawn by the long-range threats of Flyfish and Stingers. We need eggs, though, so I head back to the basket, and get immediately distracted by more bosses. But that drops more eggs, and we hit quota, with a bonus egg for luck, getting us to the final wave.
Now to struggle with the Glooga Dualies. To make them work, you have to dodge roll, and are pretty weak when you don't. Keeping that in mind, I dodge roll across the Grounds, getting some decent splats, it has to be said, but I do like it when a Maws turns up and I can just throw a Splat Bomb. Some distant bosses could pose problems, but I have two Killer Wails to use, so I pull out the first one. I have to tweak it to hit the Flyfish I was primarily aiming at, but it does the job. Then it's up a Lid, and a Fish Finger, then flying off to avoid a Maws, and trying to splat another Lid from the ground. That doesn't work, because of course it doesn't, so I clamber on to avoid the Maws still after me, then I use the second Killer Wail to hit whatever's around, being so late in the Run, and throw some last-second eggs in to the basket. Another Run successfully completed. Woomy!

![Splatoon 3: Finding the water in Bluefin Depot Splat Zones [13(1)-4, Custom Wellstring V]
Two Wellstrings on both sides. Maybe its a little too popular at the moment. But at least watching others battle with in lets me get an idea of what to do myself. Like, for example, where to stand on Bluefin Depot, where the ramp can just about hit the other ramp. You just have to not fall off. But I make the most of it, particularly as we have the Splat Zones captured, and its initially tough to displace us. When a couple of inklings fall, I decide to reset my position. That would work better if I knew just how big the gap over the water was, which I clearly didnt.
Somehow, we lose control of the Splat Zones. I help to recover them, which is good, and Im back in my position. The other thing about sticking to the ramp is to watch your flank. I do that initially, stopping another Wellstring from causing problems (and I watch them throw their Wave Breaker in the water), and I do well to move away from trouble, right until I notice the Splat Bomb late and cant run away. So it goes.
I return to pink Splat Zones and a lucky splat, and help recover the Splat Zones again. I drop down from the perch to threaten one of the Wellstrings, which goes well, and I rain ink down on whoever is hiding behind the wall, and catch the Bloblobber coming for me. Its been a good passage of play, which I then make a mockery of by showing I have no idea about the geography. Its all good, though. Eventually.
My squidmates have everything under control, and Im just peppering the Splat Zones for a while. I keep an eye on my flank too, and get a bit disappointed that I miss the Bloblobber doing, I dunno, something, with a squidmate in pursuit. Back to the Splat Zones, but with a mind to the Bloblobbers appearance, keeping me safe, although their distraction helps the pinklings capture the Splat Zones, at least for a few seconds. It stops our imminent victory, at least, and we have to battle for the Splat Zones for a while, including wondering how I am going to splat the Bloblobber. Their getting closer helps, but I do end up in the water again.
The pinklings are throwing everything at us in the final minute, including an Inkstrike I find I cant dodge. But a change of perch, and us throwing everything at them, and the battle looks won. Comfortably enough to run around with a Wave Breaker, like an idiot. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Second-wave shenanigans in Salmon Run [46-49-39-xf, 27/1576]
Were all working together nicely at the start of the wave. Its a shame it kinda starts falling apart within twenty seconds or so, when I struggle to get away from a Flipper with a Steelhead bomb nearby. Still, that could just be a glitch, as everyone pulls together to drop a Lid on the Steelhead and two of us combine to splat a Flyfish, even if it looked like it survived. More Lids are dropped, eggs are dunked, and I nearly hit the drink when I chase a Snatcher. Im good, though, and even get away from a Stinger I usually dont. But evading a Steel Eel by jumping on to an inked wall doesnt quite go to plan, as I try to avoid some gunk and end up sinking in it. Never mind, weve raked in the eggs. On to the second wave!
I have some Dapple Dualies for high tide. At least I dont need the range with less turf, right? I focus on splatting to start, letting my squidmates deal with eggs, but maybe its a sign of things to come when I drop down from a Fish Finger and accidentally throw an egg past it from a metre away. Before long, were down to one inkling! Thats me. Thankfully, I have the Wave Breaker and throw one out, which saves our skin, and a few more Special weapons fly out soon after. Okay, were good, although I mis-time a Steel Eels passage so badly that I end up in a tight spot, which Im lucky to get out of. Another Steel Eel problem moments later, as one winds its way to me along a spur, but this is less trouble, as I jump behind it and splat it easily. I hear a Kraken in the distance, and with the basket crowded I throw out my second Wave Breaker, mostly because I mistakenly believe its the final wave. Dont tell anyone! It does clear the turf, though, and we cram loads of eggs in to the basket again. Im sure I wont need another Wave Breaker.
The tide goes out a little, and I have a Rapid Blaster. Im not a fan, but here we go. An early Flyfish is easy, taking care of Chum is important, and I dont quite bring down a Lid from the ground. A squidmate drops a second Lid as I help splat a Steel Eel, and then Im dodging Flyfish missiles. But not for long! A squidmate has an Inkjet saved for this moment, and both Flyfish are splatted quickly. Nice! I move to try to help a splatted squidmate, and use my range and blasts to almost splat a Fish Finger, before missing a Stinger because I was jumping. I stop jumping and splat the Stinger, but kinda get cornered. I need to manoeuvre a bit to get clear, which turns out not to be that clear, and just when I think Im back to doing good work, another Flyfish splats me. Were one squid up again, but not for long, and the eggs are hitting the basket. I make a mistake in trying to recover ink in an open spot, and then cant escape when Chum catch up with me, but Im revived, more eggs hit the basket, and we make it to the end of the wave.
But not the Run! We have Zuna inkoming! High tide too. This shouldnt be terrible, which I disprove really quickly by sitting where I think Im clear of the Flyfishs exhaust, but Im really not. Im revived with an Inkstrike, which splats the Flyfish, and I manage to miss two out of three shots with the eggs. I move across to the other edge, and splat a Lid and half a Flyfish, but the eggs from the Lid dont do much at this range. Back across again, only to be splatted by the Flyfish, and if not that a Smallfry, and if not that then Zunas belly. Not great positioning. Im revived as others are splatted, so here comes the bonus Wave Breaker, and a Flipper splat. Back past the basket, and I bring down two Lids, splatting a Fish Finger at the top and a Stinger on the way down. It takes a bit of time, but leaves a bunch of eggs. Now to throw, throw, throw, and follow-up with some shooting. It nearly does the trick, but the splattings and early misses end up costing us a narrow victory. Still, two silver scales is a decent reward. Splatoon 3: Second-wave shenanigans in Salmon Run [46-49-39-xf, 27/1576]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/vl9cZUZXBGA/mqdefault.jpg)
![Splatoon 3: Ending with individual brilliance in Rainmaker [14(1)-6, Splat Charger]
You know, I think the Tentatek Splattershot with the triple crown is still working their way back up the ranks in the new season. Its just a hunch, plus the way they keep splatting me with brutal efficiency. At least me and the Squiffer seem evenly matched. I need to pay attention to the Rainmaker, though, and its near the first checkpoint. The Splattershot is a worry, not that Ive encountered them so far, so I hide, but still poke out to throw a Splat Bomb at the Rainmaker Shield just as a super-jumper lands. Nice! But not even my Ink Vac can save me from all the ink that is being thrown behind making that checkpoint.
The Splattershot is all over me as I try to stop the Rainmaker, even if they dont get the splat. And we havent cleared our lines either, not by a long shot. Thankfully, my squidmates get a Wipeout as I return, so we can move the Rainmaker away from our turf. We get to the grating near the checkpoint, and despite getting a good splat, we dont present the same kind of threat there that the orange team did. And the Splattershot splats me a bit too easily too. I dont super-jump back, I aint no mug, even if I still do get suckered in to a Splat Bomb play by the Splattershot. Im not happy about that one.
I return for another quick outing, splatting the Squiffer nicely but apparently not quite quickly enough, and so I return defensively. I try to guard the ink rail and the turf around our checkpoint. Maybe I achieve that, as I emerge unscathed as the Rainmaker resets, but we arent in a better position. And Im splatted by another Splattershot Splat Bomb. The orange team recover the Rainmaker and get back to our checkpoint, as I try to stay out of range of everything. I stop the Rainmaker, at least, but am certainly not out of range. Then again, an Ink Vac means I dont mind being shot at, and its inksplosion bags me a splat.
Were still in a difficult position, and my focussing on the Squiffer, even if I get the splat, has my losing the Rainmaker. I realise where it has gone and reposition, only to drop down near the Splattershot. Another Ink Vac comes to my rescue, and even hits the unfortunate Squiffer directly. The Inksplosion gets another splat, and the Splattershot looking in the wrong direction gives me a fat target for a satisfying third splat. We have time to move the Rainmaker, our squidmate hitting the checkpoint, and a minute left to make an impact. Thats not going to happen with the orange team overwhelming our position, though, so I run away, strategically.
We counter-attack, and I catch the Tri-stringer running away from our B-bomb, and all of a sudden we have time and space to move the Rainmaker. Our Aerospray is on it, dashing forwards even as I ride the ink rail back to where I was. With only the Splash-o-matic around, and them looking a little disorientated, our squidmate dashes in to an unexpected lead. More unexpected, without any support they get past the other three orange inklings apparently unscathed to dunk the Rainmaker. What a move. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Blasting around the Pump Track in Splat Zones [12-3, Range Blaster]
I dont want to get too close to the action too quickly, but I dont want to be too cautious either. I ink a path here and there then look over the ledge to see whats happening. A roller looks like they would like to be splatted, but jumping towards them just gets me hit with Point Sensors from somewhere. Ink Mines? Either way, I run behind cover, until I see the Flingza Roller again. They see me too, and back off to launch Tenta Missiles. I throw a Suction Bomb their way and hide, the bomb hitting someone, which is good, but the Splat Zones turning pink, which is not as good.
I poke my nose in to the Splat Zones, letting me see the Bloblobber is sitting on the ledge, and they need to feel less safe. My Wave Breaker does that, as they come closer, but I move up anyway, finding the Squiffer taking up the position on the ledge. I miss them, which is quite poor, but give chase and get the splat. I put some pressure on the returning Bloblobber, as my squidmates give us the lead, and track over to the other ledge, where the Flingza Roller is sitting pretty. They back off to fire more missiles as I blast their way, and try to splat them as they reappear. My focus makes me notice the Squiffer far too late, and they take full advantage.
The Flingza Roller comes around to our turf, for whatever reason, and I push them back. Then its in to the Splat Zones again, or thereabouts, where a Wave Breaker causes me problems I dont know how I manage to get out of, particularly with more missiles flying in, but my recovery sees the Flingza Roller jump right in front of my blast. Nice! My own Wave Breaker proves a nice distraction, letting me splat the Bloblobber, but my new-found confidence doesnt let me get a direct hit on the Squiffer, which is a shame. I see where they go, and move to meet them. I need to wait for their Zipcaster to finish, but I greet them on landing.
I move in to the Splat Zones and destroy a Sprinkler, splatting its owner too, but not before they throw enough ink my way to send me back to base. I return to confront the Squiffer again, this time a bit of jumping saving my skin, and I slink around the side to provide some surprise blasts for the Bloblobber, although the Flingza Roller gets away. Not completely, though, and I even manage to dodge nicely to splat the Dualie Squelchers afterwards. Meanwhile, our score is ticking over nicely, and the pink team cant do enough to neutralise the Splat Zones before we get an early victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Keeping the pressure on in Tower Control [22(6)-4, Range Blaster]
It looks like my blast down the blind side wasnt in vain, and it may have scared back the Splat Dualies. But there are more green inklings, and more of them than us early on. I point towards the Tower but have to retreat myself, luckily bagging a splat as I do. I get some height, fail to throw a Suction Bomb, then throw one and run out of ink. Not great decisions. My squidmates do better, getting some splats and letting us turn the Tower around, at least briefly. I spot one inkling coming up the side and splat them, then hope my range will let me reach whoever else is shooting me. But thats the Splattershot Pro, and they splat me easily enough.
My squidmates take the lead as I return, which is nice, and I contribute by splatting a super-jumper, then an inkling sitting on the ledge throwing bombs. I push forwards, and retreat rapidly as an inkling appears above me, but to a point where I splat them on the ledge before they track me. The Tower needs some help, so I backtrack to help keep it moving, but fail to reach enough green inklings to keep it moving for long. I pull back as the Tower does, getting a few glancing shots but following them only by hitting the Towers pillar. Eventually I get a splat, and dash forwards again to get a lucky second, and the Tower is free to move once more.
I ignore the Tower for another target, who runs away, so I press on, throwing a Wave Breaker ahead and dashing back as I miss a couple more shots. I kinda run backwards in to trouble, though. So it goes. The Tower is coming my way as I return. I get a hit as I move up, and jink to be less obvious, bagging two splats from the second angle, contributing to a Wipeout that lets us ride the Tower in peace for a few seconds. I avoid one bomb thrown our way, and jump off the Tower to avoid another, only to land in a third.
I take a skewed route back to the action, but the Tower is coming back anyway, so I take a different orthogonal route, and gain some height, only to be thwarted again by the bucket, which cares not for elevations. I try the whole throwing bombs approach as I return, which is unsatisfying, and simply wait for opportunity to present itself for a few seconds. Nothing comes, so I pop out and start blasting, finding one inkling but having to flee from a Crab. A Bubble over the Tower stops our ink, so I throw a Suction Bomb to deplete it a little, and it cracks soon after, letting us clear the Tower.
The Tower isnt clear for long, and the green team are quite persistent in wanting to ride it. Thankfully, my position lets me keep much of the Tower between me and the green team, and I can choose the best time to blast away. The green team go pop individually, although I miscount and run in to one more, which I am run out of ink on. My squidmates are happy to help, and turn the Tower around, as the seconds tick down to the end of the battle. We keep the green team at bay, and secure a decent victory. Woomy! ![Splatoon 3: Turning the tide in Rainmaker [12(3)-2, Splat Charger]
I wouldnt have thought wed burst the Rainmaker first, but we do. Not that it helps us, as the blue team push in to our turf and start splatting, grabbing the Rainmaker as they come. The checkpoint is hit as I return, and I pretty much just wait for my squidmates to come back before I poke my beak anywhere. And, lets be honest, I keep hiding behind them as they splat the blue team away. But I want to contribute, so I grab the Rainmaker and head for the ink rail, splatting the Sploosh-o-matic on the way, as my squidmates continue their good job of splatting the blue team. I hit the ink rail, physically, not with the Rainmaker, and zip up to the checkpoint, only to realise the blue team got a lot further than I gave them credit for. Weve still got a lot to do.
We burst the Rainmaker free, but the blue team are coming in to defend. I splat the Sploosh-o-matic again, and whip out an Ink Vac to keep myself a bit safer as more inklings appear. It almost does the job, until it stops sucking, then the inksplosion cant come quickly enough against the Painbrush. Were wiped out, which is unfortunate, and as the blue team return the Rainmaker I get in to a defensive position. It helps protect against flanks, if not Rainmaker progress initially. Still, splatting the Painbrush twice feels good.
I get back in to a position closer to the Rainmaker as my squidmates splat it, and we burst it free again to make a new push. An Ink Vac does a good job of letting the Rainmaker use the ink rail, and were back up at the checkpoint. I sneak a decent splat on the Hero Shot Replica, but trying to get past the chokepoint proves difficult. I end up retreating a bit, when the Tetra Dualies close in on me, but my squidmates persevere and get more splats, so I pop up again. Another Ink Vac sucks in the blue ink coming our way, including a Suction Bomb, and its inksplosion and my squidmates good work gets us a Wipeout this time.
The Rainmaker was dropped just short of the podium, but without the blue team to worry about, Im happy to pick it up and dunk it on the podium for a good turnaround victory. Woomy! Splatoon 3: Turning the tide in Rainmaker [12(3)-2, Splat Charger]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/xPlkDD2wFqA/mqdefault.jpg)
![Splatoon 3: High tide brings bigger bounties in Salmon Run [50-47-55-xs, 42/1455]
A Tornado to start with is nice and relaxing, made better by inklings who know you can throw eggs in to the basket from the middle platform. Having the Decavitor makes cutting through the salmonids much easier too. I still hit the water, but never mind. Its a decent start to the Run.
On to the second wave, tide high, and Hydra Splatling in hand. A Maws interrupts my first charge, but thats okay, not much else is happening. I realise I should probably using the weapon to its best rather than grabbing eggs, so I make sure I get some full charges and release them. It works well! An empty Fish Finger then seems like a good place to stay relatively safe, so I head up there and find I cant reach much. I drop down, maybe by accident, and just before the inevitable Maws showed up anyway, and get back in to the action. Theres not much for me to do, though, so I just collect eggs. Another decent wave.
I finish the Run with the .52 Gal, still at high tide. The bosses remain simple to start, nothing that the Hydra Splatling cant stop in its tracks, and we have eggs galore around the basket before we know it. Even when things get a little busy we stay on top of the situation. A couple of Stingers could pose problems, but I have a couple of Inkstrikes, and need just one to clear the left side of the Junction. More Stingers appear, but theres no Lid to obstruct them, and a squidmate is there with a Splashdown anyway. The only real problem we have is cramming all the eggs in the basket, but we get a decent amount.
But its not over yet! Here comes Horrorboros, and at high tide. I have the Octobrush for this, so I may as well just go for a swim, but Im sure our Hydra Splatling will have Boros under control. I miss Boross bomb with my first egg throw, and then it flies too far away from the nearby eggs, so I just go for body shots. I still miss one, but I dont think anyone saw. Things get a bit hair as a Steel Eel chases me, then Boros releases a bomb, and I cant get away. Another Steel Eel comes for me, but a small step confuses them, and a bit of splatting leaves us with lots of eggs and a big Boros above us. A good bit of throwing later, and Boros is splatted, for a princely two silver scales. Woomy!
