In 1998, Joey Belladonna followed up his solo debut with "Spells of Fear", an album made almost entirely through the mail with a guitarist he'd never even met in person. The result was a rushed, unfocused record that critics called a "train wreck," criticized for thin production, generic songwriting, and an awkward attempt to chase the mid-90s groove metal wave.
