The Black Crowes are back with their brand-new 2026 album A Pound of Feathers… but the big question is simple: did they just top their comeback album Happiness Bastards?
In this video, I take a deep dive into the latest release from The Black Crowes. I talk about my personal history with the band going all the way back to their debut Shake Your Money Maker, and how rediscovering them with their Grammy-nominated comeback album Happiness Bastards brought them back onto my radar.
Released on March 13, 2026 through Silver Arrow Records and produced by Jay Joyce, A Pound of Feathers was recorded quickly in Nashville and captures the raw, feral energy of the band’s live performances. The album blends classic rock swagger, blues, southern rock, and even some punk energy into a tight 11-song, 42-minute record.
In this review I break down the album track by track, discussing songs like “Profane Prophecy,” “Pharmacy Chronicles,” “Do The Parasite!,” and the dark closing track “Doomsday Doggerel.”
