Worship Music should have been a disaster.
Before the album became one of Anthrax's greatest comeback records, it went through years of chaos. Corey Taylor nearly became the band's new singer, Dan Nelson recorded an entire version of the album that was never released, and Joey Belladonna returned to save the project just in time for the historic Big Four shows.
In this episode of my Anthrax series, we'll explore the incredible story behind Worship Music, including:
Why Corey Taylor almost joined Anthrax
Why Roadrunner Records stopped the collaboration
The complete Dan Nelson version of the album
Joey Belladonna's return and how the album was rebuilt
The meanings behind the songs
The album's critical and commercial success
Despite nearly falling apart multiple times, Worship Music became one of Anthrax's most celebrated albums and proved the band still belonged among thrash metal's elite.
What do you think? Is Worship Music Anthrax's best album since Among the Living or Persistence of Time? Let me know in the comments!
