Periphery just dropped one of the most divisive albums of their career and I’ve got a lot to say about it.
In this full review of A Pale White Dot, I break down Periphery’s bold shift away from sprawling prog-metal epics into something shorter, darker, more emotional, and at times genuinely unpredictable. This is a concept album about loneliness, isolation, obsession, grief, and disconnection, but it’s also an album that swings wildly between crushing djent, electronic experimentation, post-punk textures, and acoustic minimalism.
One track features Will Ramos delivering one of the most unhinged guest performances of 2026. Another sounds like Radiohead making an 80s synth soundtrack. Somehow, both exist on the same record.

“Blackwall”
“Everyone Dies Alone”
“Mr. God”
and the acoustic closer “A Pale White Dot”
