Flotsam and Jetsam finally sounded like themselves again.
After years of experimenting with alternative, grunge, and more commercial sounds in the 1990s, the band began clawing its way back toward the thrash metal that made them legendary. Following Unnatural Selection, Flotsam and Jetsam delivered My God on May 22, 2001 — an album that felt like a genuine return to form.
In this episode, we look at how My God came together, the addition of drummer Craig Nielsen and guitarist Mark Simpson, the recording sessions with producer Bill Metoyer, and the album's return to aggressive, riff-driven thrash.
We'll also break down key tracks including "My God," "Camera Eye," "Learn to Dance," "Dig Me Up to Bury Me," "Frustrate," and the epic "I.A.M.H."
