So you started a video project for your nonprofit, church or private school... and it's still not done. My guess is that either you’re doing it yourself or it’s a friend of a friend who is putting it together.
One solution is, of course, to hire a professional to get it done.
But if that’s not an option, you must set progress deadlines. Make them challenging, but realistic.
There are 5 easy checkpoints you can set a deadline for. When the video must be:
1. Planned and written - we estimate two weeks for video that is less than 5 minutes
2. Filmed - it could take a month to coordinate schedules
3. Interviews edited - max one week
4. Everything else, like graphics and b-roll, edited - maybe another week
5. Revisions completed and video finalized - give yourself up to four weeks to get feedback and make the changes.
A phrase in the trade is “videos are never done, they’re just taken from you.” To get your project done, set deadlines or it will drag on forever.
