Rules:
- This is a low level run of zombero's hardtype mod: romhacking.net/hacks/3299
- The aim is to keep XP gain as low as possible without affecting my sanity.
- Hard mode, obviously
- No stat boosting items
- All other game mechanics are fair game!
Hardtype changes:
- HP: 5000 → 18000
- Crit rate of Rebellion and E & I greatly increased and both skills seem to be 100% accurate
- E & I now lowers defence/evasion
- Roundtrip now lowers evasion
- Whirlwind is meant to lower accuracy, but due to a glitch with the patch it didn't work properly here
- He now has Never Yield, which is cute I guess
I still have nightmares about the critspam of the first Dante fight, so the fact that my own crits were so wild here was karmically satisfying. Dante has lots of new toys this time, and the most interesting thing about them is that none of them are as effective as using Rebellion 4 times in a row for 10 minutes straight.
During the first phase he uses physicals, mostly Bullet-Time, so a fast Prayerbot with Void Mind is essential. In the second phase he switches to magic and stops using Holy Star so you're free to fully debuff him. In the final phase he can do any of the above, and starts using Showtime as well. Fang Breaker is nice here if he uses Holy Star (you want to keep him debuffed so he doesn't use Showtime + a follw-up attack without debuffs) but he waited way too long to remove my debuffs and was already nearly dead.
