You can also chu hover against the wall as you'd do with bombs but these are easier in my opinion and can be buffered as well.
Demonstrated as child but they work as adult, too. Child Link loses ISG when climbing up the higher fences so you have to get ISG on top. Getting ISG off Navi works fine, it's just a bit slower.
setup from the hut:
0) get on top and get ISG, make your way into the high corner of the house close to the wall
1) I align the tip of the sword hilt with a certain texture on the wall but it's only used to trigger the camera for rolls to the right when holding ESS down (you can simply hold down-down-right ESS to bypass it and use a really wide angle range)
2) do 3 sideflip hovers (chu drop timing is lenient)
3) backflip onto the seam, make your way to the temple entrance / Gold Skulltula, etc.
setup from the Nocturne warp pad:
0) get on top of the fence and get ISG
1) target the wall, turn right, sidehop right twice, sidehop left - neutral roll - retarget, turn right (you can also get the angle and just eyeball the position, make sure to not get too close to the wall, though)
2) do 4 sideflip hovers (you need to hold down-down-right ESS to roll properly after the first or second hover, try to drop the chus early)
3) sideflip onto the seam
chu ISG setup on top of the hut:
1) turn 90 degrees after making it onto the hut, line up the back of the heels with the black line next to the chimney
2) drop a chu, crouch stab on first frame of the explosion, C-up on the recoil frame (look out for the white sword glow)
- on top of the high fence:
1) climb up, turn right
2) ESS turn left for one frame, roll, ESS turn right for two frames
3) drop a chu, crouch stab on second frame of the explosion, C-up on the recoil frame
Mashing C-up can be easier on certain controllers, I just messed up badly on the right video.

The actual setup starts at 1:27.
0) get ISG, target the wall near the torch on the adult side
1) walk all the way left, backflip - neutral roll - retarget
2) sidehop left, sidehop right - neutral roll - retarget, turn right
3) roll, backflip, shielddrop a bomb, sidehop right, shielddrop a bomb
4) keep holding Z and move in front of the torch (try to be at the centre or slightly left of it)
5) equip Hover Boots and backflip twice while shielding to hover
6) shoot an arrow to light the first torch, cancel ISG and jump down to light the second torch
You have roughly 10 seconds after lighting the first torch to light the second one. This saves almost a minute compared to pushing the statue on the child side.
The trickiest part about this setup is moving to the torch in time (it isnt too precise).
My first hover was somewhat early. Youll get more height and less distance if you backflip later which makes aiming a bit easier. First explosion is one of the latest frames that still work. ![4 Skulltulas in Shadow Temple (with Longshot, no Hover Boots) [OoT bingo]
The adaptation for All 5 GS in Shadow Temple would be to do truth spinner, ride the boat after the GS there and get the one near the BK, savewarp, continue with the demonstrated route after blowing up the Beamos wall.
This video mainly showcases some optimizations you can do with Longshot. This goal is also possible with Hookshot but then you need to hover to the boat GS (Hover Boots will probably pay off at that point).
You need one explosive for the Shadow GS (to break a wall near the first Beamos). Bombs are convenient for weirdshots and bombchus help for truth spinner skip but those arent required.
Not demonstrated here:
- megaflip anti-gravity strat after truth spinner (https://youtu.be/nR1Suhax7-Q)
- weirdshot to the GS in Like Like room (only saves time when you do a weirdshot without walking up to a wall)
- weirdshot in falling spikes room (I couldnt make a timing comparison for it but I think Ive seen it in a TAS)
Health management can be an issue with this route. Assuming you dont ledge clip to enter Shadow Temple, youll lose half a heart from falling damage before starting the goal. The megaflip past the Beamos would be another half. Voiding out after the boat GS will deal a full heart of damage leaving you with only one heart remaining. The weirdshot in the Skulltula corridor usually deals half a heart (is there a consistent target strat before landing to roll instead?).
All the scythes, traps, blades and enemies are on set cycles so damage from them can be avoided consistently. After entering the Like Like room I ESS instead of tap turn left to delay my backwalk a little so I dont take damage. On your way out of the falling spike room stay right of the Beamos as opposed to left because youll have an easier time dodging the blade traps and making the fast platform cycle easily. The spikes on the floor in the ReDead rupee room can be avoided by staying a little further right than shown here.
My apologies for the lag during the gate clip before the falling spike room. I use a variation of Bakenekos setup (https://youtu.be/9SixL1Ih9Ew) and my angle is ESS turning left for 1 frame. 4 Skulltulas in Shadow Temple (with Longshot, no Hover Boots) [OoT bingo]](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/ulU0_yI5ln8/mqdefault.jpg)
