We've not had a huge amount of opportunities to work with small carnivores, so when the small cat team at Port Lympne asked if we could create a climbing structure for the serval during one of our team builds, we jumped at the chance when the right group came along.
During the morning we set to work creating the framework. And then in the afternoon, it was over to our awesome corporate group to create all of the platforms. This was done in the form of a competition, with points given or taken on teamwork, H&S, following instructions, etc, and everyone had a great time!
Once all of the platforms were made, the group went out on safari while we quickly installed all of the platforms onto the framework before the group arrived at the enclosure. Now we are very aware that small carnivores can be incredibly timid, so we didn't expect an immediate reaction. However, Shenzi (one of four in this enclosure) came over immediately to explore, as you can see in the footage here.
A massive well done to the team, we had a blast working with you. And a huge thank you to the small cat team for your time and enthusiasm on the day, it was great working with you!
