Hailing from Saarbrücken on the German/French border, Sandra first found fame in the girl group, Arabaesque, who scored five German hit singles in the early 80s. Branching out as a solo artist, she opened her account with the worldwide hit, “(I’ll Never Be) Maria Magdalena” in 1985. (Surprisingly, this song didn’t register in either the US or the UK.)
Sandra went on to score with many hit singles and albums, particularly in Germany. She was also one of the voices behind Enigna’s worldwide hit album, “MCMXC a.D.” in 1990.
Her “Stay In Touch” album, released over 25 years after her first in 1984, shows that she is still capable of delivering a state of the art 80s’ pop sound. The producers, Blank and Jones, are a German DJ duo who, as well as releasing their own recordings have compiled those of others. One of these is the “So80s” album by Sandra.
