After my high of finishing R-Type Delta HD Boosted, I had to do this. I only included this stage once in the Ship Showcase playlist because I thought it was so hard. Well, here it is on R-Typer 3 with the Delta.
Pros
- The red weapon is a powerful horizontal beam that fires in a criss cross pattern, like a helix. With Bits, they'll fire too.
- The classic blue reflective laser is good for hitting enemies above and below you, as it will fire forward from the Force, as well as the top and bottom at 45 degree angles.
- The Wave Cannon will fire forward and then diffuse into multiple bolts, covering a decent amount of the screen - very powerful when charged up to two loops.
- The Standard Force fires in the four pattern classic and is very powerful when rammed into an enemy while firing.
Cons
- The yellow weapon is highly situational and is outclassed by the blue weapon. I always avoid it when I can.
I practiced this stage on R-Typer 3 for days and days!! The boss was giving me a lot of trouble until I figured out how to dodge the super fast rings it fires at you. Also, the walls have ridges, so you can get stuck if you're not paying attention, leading to a death.
I love the new rendition of the music in this stage - it outclasses the original PlayStation version for me. Top tier stuff.
Also, I'd forgotten how beautiful this game is since I'd been playing R-Type Delta HD Boosted for a while before I went back to R-Type Final 2. I played this on my PC, like I do with all of my games these days. If you look, you can see the mouse cursor in the top left corner of the screen. I play with a Dual Shock 4 controller too. I don't know why the mouse cursor stays on screen.
I've been thinking about redoing some of the stages with ships I've already used, only this time on R-Typer 3 difficulty. Some of the stages are super rough, so I'll do what I can manage. I'm not going to redo the same stages with the same ships, so it'll add a little bit of variety.
