There has been a lot of discussion in the 3D Scanner Forums about the accuracy claims being made by the venders. I wanted to learn more how they are arriving at their numbers and I wanted to do an independent test. Revopoint uses a Ceramic Ball Bar and a single view (that eliminates turn-table alignment errors). These Ball bars are extremely expensive, so I purchased three different size precision step blocks and did a single view test. The results were impressive. The mean error was close to zero and the precision (std.dev.) was less than 0.1mm.
