Rear Delt Sled Drags | Wenning Strength
Most lifters spend plenty of time pressing but very little time strengthening the muscles that stabilize the shoulder. Rear delt sled drags are one of the safest and most effective ways to build the posterior shoulder, upper back, and scapular stabilizers while minimizing joint stress.
By attaching straps or handles to a sled and walking backward with the arms extended, you create constant tension on the rear delts throughout the entire movement. The sled also provides accommodating resistance without the momentum often seen in traditional free-weight exercises.
Benefits include:
* Increased rear delt hypertrophy
* Improved shoulder stability and posture
* Better bench press and overhead pressing support
* Enhanced scapular control and endurance
* Low joint stress with high training volume
Keep the chest up, shoulders down, and focus on pulling through the rear delts rather than shrugging the weight. Use higher repetitions and longer distances to build work capacity and shoulder health.
Train the muscles that protect the shoulder, not just the ones you can see in the mirror.
