If your triceps aren’t firing before you bench, you’re leaving strength on the table and putting your shoulders in a bad position. At Wenning Strength, we don’t guess—we prepare the joint and activate the muscles that actually finish the lift.

This triceps warmup sequence is built to:
• Increase blood flow to the elbows and triceps
• Improve lockout strength and bar path control
• Reduce shoulder stress by shifting load where it belongs
• Prime the nervous system before heavy pressing

We use controlled, high-rep movements to wake up the triceps without fatigue. The goal isn’t to burn out—it’s to turn on. When the triceps are ready, the bench press becomes more stable, more efficient, and safer under load.

Typical WENNING approach before bench:
• Light cable pushdowns or band pushdowns (high reps)
• Controlled tempo, full extension, no elbow flare
• Focus on contraction, not weight
• Pair with upper back activation for full pressing stability

Most lifters skip this and wonder why their bench stalls or their elbows hurt. Fix the weak link before it becomes the injury.

Train with intent. Build strength that lasts.
