Remote ID FRIA Update Aug 30, 2023
In this video I will go over an update of AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) update of FRIA (FAA Recognized Identification Area) approval process with the FAA.
The Sept 16, 2023 date when remote ID comes into effect is fast approaching. Remote ID modules are late to market and the status of FRIA approvals, where you can fly RC without any remote ID equipment, is unclear.
The AMA is working FRIA approval process closely with the FAA, but time is getting tight. As of Aug 29, 2023 around 700 FRIAs have been approved, 200 denied and around 800 still in the queue.
There is a chance the Sept 16th start date might be slipped, or modelers offered a grace period, but we will not know that until very close to Sept 16, 2023.
