In this video I will go over a build and fly of the Goldberg Jr. Skylark. In short, how to build and fly Goldberg Jr Skylark.
Carl Goldberg was a very accomplished and successful model airplane designer and kit manufacture. Carl started in the late 1950s and his models were widely flown by RC hobbyists everywhere.
Once of his signature kits was the sport radio control model of the Skylark. A nice Sunday flying with a wingspan of around 56 inches. Carl also designed and kitted the Jr. Skylark a smaller version of the Skylark for .049 Cox gas engines. This model came out around 1965.
I came across a set of plans for the Jr. Skylark for electric power. The plans were redrawn in 2000 for brushed electric motors. I built my Jr. Skylark for modern brushless motors and a 2 cell lipo battery.
The model goes together very well and there is nothing unusual in the construction. I used a Flite Test Power Pack A for the model and it provided plenty of power.
I tried the first flight with just rudder for turn control. For whatever reason this did not work out and I added ailerons. The Jr. Skylark flew fine after that. Good luck with your build!
