Quorum Axis 54" ceiling fan in satin nickel. This was of course the second fan featured in my recent Spotlight video. Only real letdown is the mediocre performance, otherwise it really checks a lot of marks in cool design and great build. It definitely doesn't run very fast on high, which I think is part of where it lacks on taking advantage of the otherwise great pitch of the blades. I think there's also some inherent inefficiencies with the design that don't allow for the most streamlined airflow. That said, this is another of those designs where I think the listed CFM data can lead to a skewed foregone conclusion. Below 4,000 sounds pretty bad for a fan of this size, but like some of the other recent underwhelming-on-paper fans I've worked with, it doesn't feel as dismal as I'd expect in relation to a fan that achieves higher. It's certainly not a top level of performance, and that can be registered, but I still think the overall range offers fair function. I've had great-performing fans in my bedroom(s) over the years, but I personally don't like being blasted with airflow and rarely even get up to a medium speed range with them. This fan runs so quietly and offers a different kind of range, so I think it could be a really great bedroom fan for people with similar preferences. I love a well-rounded product that does all of the things, but there truly is a place for more design-forward products like this, even in terms of their function.
