Casablanca/Homestead Airflow 56" ceiling fan in black, demonstrated using my preferred Emerson 4 speed/dimmer combo wall control. Recently acquired this fan from another collector, first time I've brought something in that way in a long time. This is one of the few remaining vintage fan models out there that I was really wanting to snag at some point. Of course I'm still collecting and will grab just about anything at the right price, but in terms of shelling out a little cash and bothering with shipping, there's not a lot left out there that I'm willing to do such a combination of expense and effort for. The brass motor version is cool, but the all black is probably my favorite, so I really needed to get after this one. I also prefer the lack of an integrated control system, so it's really my ideal version. I love anything of Homestead origin, and there are a few other contemporary models I'd also like to have, but the Airflow has always been a very specific ✨vibe✨ for me. Something about the next-generation slimmed down styling paired with the earlier contemporary influence of the ring glass; it's like the physical representation of evolving design in the early 90's. Unlike a lot of other Homestead designs in a similar lane, air movement is kinda meh because the blades are so skinny, and the leading edge of the mold kind of slumps into an almost reverse pitch that works against efficient airflow and creates a lot of whipping noise. It's decent, but not up to the standard that I typically associate with Homestead as a whole. Runs great, maybe a bit more motor hum on higher speeds than I'm accustomed to with Homestead designs, but overall not bad. I would say condition is decently used. Per usual it looks very good on video, but it's not mint because of some scratching and assorted imperfections. I was able to camouflage the worst bits like some scratches on the bottom of the canopy pretty well, overall it's very presentable. Despite the inherent shortfalls of the design, I'm so happy to have it. Perhaps not the best execution of Homestead's contemporary offerings, but still a top favorite here.
