One of the biggest tradeoffs with diffusing is that more volume usually means a little more disruption at the roots.
In this group coaching session, we worked on creating root lift without stretching the roots straight.
A few key adjustments make a huge difference:
• keep the dryer pointed toward the scalp, not outward
• place the diffuser and hold it instead of moving it around
• avoid pulling the roots sideways while upside down
• use the prongs to lift, not drag
When you move the diffuser around too much, you stretch the roots and disturb the curl pattern.
Sometimes a little root frizz is worth it for the extra fullness. The goal is learning how to control the tradeoff.
